Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare Directed by Angela George
Picture the scene…the year is 1913; the free spirits of La Belle Époque frolic desperately through a final wild Bohemian summer as ominous clouds loom…
Viola survives a shipwreck off the coast of Illyria. Believing her twin brother drowned, she disguises herself as a young man, ‘Cesario’, and finds a position with the Duke of Orsino, who is distractedly enamoured of the beautiful but melancholic Olivia.
Orsino sends ‘Cesario’ to woo Olivia on his behalf, but Olivia quite naturally falls in love with the messenger…
Meanwhile, the bibulous Sir Toby Belch and his cronies decide to exact revenge on Olivia’s austere steward Malvolio – and mayhem ensues!
